What does "tejo" mean in Colombian Spanish?

"me rei tanto porque jugamos Tejo"

An adult wrote me that she played "tejo" in a country town. I thought that tejo meant horseshoes but the dictionary here says it means hop-scotch. I thought "rayuela" meant hopscotch.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

I found what I was looking for. Click here. It is a game played in Columbia. At first I thought it was a style of music, but then remembered I read something about this game last week. I have another link (the one I read), which I will add. smile

Now I'm confused. Maybe it is music? Anyway, I will post the article below. Maybe they played the game and then danced at an event. It is hard to say without context. - Nicole-B, Jul 5, 2011
It was a small-town festival in a pueblo southwest of Bogota so Mexican connection is unlikely. I'm pretty sure she meant the game as you referred me to, thanks. - maossorio, Jul 5, 2011

I lived in Colombia for 2 years and I don't remember any exploding games, but I sort of recall playing horseshoes, called "tejo," but now it's so long ago I can't be sure. Thanks. - maossorio, Jul 5, 2011
