I'm having some difficulty with this translation - "let me know"

Avisar is also good for this use. Also, and I am not sure why, but I don't hear the word recibir used very often. I would personally say, "Avísame cuando te llegue." Let me know when it arrives. But translating specifically with recibir, "Avísame cuando lo recibas."

Tú command:
Dime en cuanto lo recibas = Tell me as soon as you recieve it.
Cuando lo recibas, házmelo saber = When you recieve it, inform me.
"Hacer saber" is an idiomatic expression that means "to inform" or to "let someone know".
"recibir" was in the present subjunctive because it was an anticipated action.
