How can you tell when someone has used a translator?

Translators are not allowed on this thread!
Sometimes I see Heidita edit a question saying this, and I always have wondered...how can someone tell if a translator has been used? Is it really obvious?

P.S - I am not trying to be sneaky and know what to avoid when using a translator. I promise! I don't even use translators.
