Today is the day that the United States celebrates it independence, and most Americans feel very patriotic during this day. However my dogs do not like this day because they do not like fireworks!

One of my favorite errors: su/sus depends on the number of the noun; not how many people (United States) that it refers to...su independencia - 0074b507, Jul 4, 2011

wow, now this is a really good sentence mi amor, jeje, ves, si haces la frase bien, te llamo cosas bonitas, lol, casi sin faltas, copy and paste!!! - 00494d19, Jul 4, 2011
Happy Independence Day, everybody! :) - Ingeteacher, Jul 4, 2011
la mayoría...siente muy patriótico all singular (it doesn't matter that estadounidenses is plural.) (unlike English) Notice that it is la mayoría, not las mayoría (like la gente) - 0074b507, Jul 4, 2011
yes, quentin, this is in theory correct, but we do this so often , that it is natural, as you can see in my correction, it came perfectly natural to me to say se sienten, as you have the plural noun nearer, same happens with gente. - 00494d19, Jul 4, 2011
Happy Independence Day!!!!!! - migelis, Jul 4, 2011
we would for example say: había mucha gente en la sala, comían , bebían....this is technically incorrect, but so often used that I can't think of that as a mistake. - 00494d19, Jul 4, 2011
Gracias Heidi, novia mía!! :) - 001a2987, Jul 4, 2011

It is very easy to be patriotic, just show love for your country and be proud of it.

The most patriotic thing is to practice civil discourse.

English idiom: "he would spin in his grave" said when something happens that this dead person would not have liked. - pesta, Jul 4, 2011
Amusingly, in modern day parlance "spinning" is to twist the truth, to con, to tell political lies which cannot easily be proven so :-) - lagartijaverde, Jul 4, 2011
As pesta said, someone rolls over in their grave if someone says something they don't like. In this case it is in reference to the ind of the Bush presidency, as some people feel liberties were abandoned during his term in office. - Fredbong, Jul 4, 2011

Among other restrictions during the Soviet occupation it was illegal to sing Lithuanian patriotic songs and to celebrate national holidays.

The founders of our nation defied the British King, and for that faced death for treason. They were patriots and the fathers of our nation. They pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor for the cause.

A patriotic citizen should be proud of his flag and his anthem.

I like the fireworks during the Independence Day celebrations in the United States, but I don't like the smell of the smoke afterwards.

nacionales, now, this sentence is far too perfect to be written by a beginner. - 00494d19, Jul 4, 2011
Hi Esteban...the word big doesn't really fit, and just patriotic emotions would really have the same effect...and no need for 'the'.... - 001a2987, Jul 4, 2011
así que yo diría....The soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the freedom of their country showed their patriotic emotions and became national heroes - 001a2987, Jul 4, 2011

Many people place a high value on being patriotic especially because soldiers, sailors and airmen have been brave and they have died fighting for their country.

Many British people don't like to feel patriotic except for when celebrating a Royal wedding. There are many strikes at the moment about pensions and the deficit.
