Beginning conversational Spanish {soap}
One of my four favorite sites has added something new that is very good. It is episodes of a soap you can watch and learn everyday spanish conversation. When you get to the 3rd episode, be prepared to answer some questions {written in spanish} that happened throughout the episode. The spanish is spoken clearly and not fast so it is easy to pick up what they are saying.

There is a text book and work books that go along with this soap. It is a two year program that teaches Spanish. The text book associated with it is very expensive but I was able to get it cheaply second hand (and the work books too) at amazon.com It starts off easy, the speech is slow and the instructions and questions are in English. It slowly increases the speed of the Spanish and the amount of English decreases until the end the characters are speaking at a normal speed and you are understanding it. I really recommend treating this series as a Spanish course. By the way the is a french and a German version.
This "soap" is really wonderful, especially considering how many episodes it has, and how it's structured with repetition of material to reinforce learning.
I would suggest another great site that's even more fun (alas, much shorter) is a 22-episode interactive story from BBC Languages, Mi Vida Loca. I enjoyed every minute of it!
Thank you for sharing! I am always on the lookout for new material to listen to. Hopefully one day I will actually understand what they are saying too lol ![]()

Thank you everyone for sharing all these wonderful links recently. I wish there were more hours in the day for me to study Spanish. It is also fantastic how we can access all this information nowadays and for free!!! I remember back in the day when I was learning Spanish, we did not have access information or sites like these. I had dial up internet and used cassettes to practice my Spanish.
Good idea. Foxluv. I started this once. Maybe I will try it again.
Thanks I watched all these once but I am enjoying them again now I understand a little better.
Thanks for the link.. looks like this site has some other useful links as well.
But I was concerned when I read that there was to be "no advertising" on this site. I didn't know if suggesting such things would be considered "advertising."
It is not advertising. The question is based on intent. If your link is solely to promote another site or business, that's not allowed. We put links on the forum frequently to help others find resources that help them learn.
Of course, if another website has something that SpanishDict also has, I think it's a great idea to recommend the SpanishDict source first.
Actually, if Heidita is reading this thread, I have a question.
Earlier, I had wanted to post about these two programs, as I thought they were the best out there -- especially for first-day beginners. But I was concerned when I read that there was to be "no advertising" on this site. I didn't know if suggesting such things would be considered "advertising."
Also, I didn't know if we "lowly newbies" were allowed to make suggestions for the Spanish Media part of the SpanishDict website.
