Did you forget to take your passport?
Just thinking up phrases to test my grammar and struggling away at it.
Did you forget to take your passport?
¿Te Olvidaste a tomar tus pasaporte?
Sí, si me lo olvidé.
Break down.
- Te not sure if this is correct it just feels like it should be there. Lol.
- Did you suggests the preterite so olvidaste 2nd person verb
- a tomar not sure if I needed to put the a in there. Once again it just seemed right.
- tomar Infinitive to take. Would llevar or coger work here?
- tus possessive adjective.
- pasaporte Direct object noun.
- me indirect object pronoun. 1st person.
- lo direct object pronoun.
- olvidé 1st person preterite.
Is any of this right? ![]()

When you use To forget in a sentence i.e olvidar and directly follow it with an infinite verb like tomar, comer, beber you don't need to put "a" it is like this
olvidar + infinitive
eg. olvidó llevar su chaqueta - he forgot to take his jacket
you can put "TE" because it is a pronominal verb which allows you to write
te olvidaste or just olvidaste.
Tomar is the wrong verb here. You could use llevar or traer.
tus is plural and pasaporte is singular so it should be "tu"
however you don't really need it here, you could say el pasaporte.
así que, es así
"¿olvidaste traer el pasaporte? - sí, sí me lo olvidé"
If you want a list of verbs that take the preposition "A" after them click here.
like for example
Empezar + a + infinitive
Empiezo a llorar I start to cry ![]()
