Welcome to the forum Monreal, please try to use correct capitalization in your posts. - Yeser007, Jun 30, 2011
You're never too old, especially when it comes to learning! :) - cristalino, Jun 30, 2011
Just a guess, is your native language French? Could you be from Montreal? Please add that to your profile. - Yeser007, Jun 30, 2011

Bienvenidos Pictures, Images and Photos

Welcome to SD. I'm 58 too. My memory is nothing like it was when I was younger but I'm learning and really enjoy the people here.

Hello Monreal and Welcome to the SpanishDict forum grin

What does your age have to do with learning? Age is not a barrier. I am sure that there are many people here much older than you are. Age can affect the speed at which we can learn but does not prevent us from learning new things. People more than 20 years older than you have qualifed with certificates from University!

Infact, one of my friends here called Ray, from Australia, is in his 70's and he has already learnt a lot of Spanish and is one of our most enthusiatic participants both in this forum and in the Skype chats we have.

So please do not allow age to discourage you from learning ...it cannot stop you from learning Spanish but a negative attitude of: ''I think I cannot do it because I am too old now'' can be a potential barrier!

Just be patient with yourself and be realistic in the goals you set yourself for learning Spanish and you will see that you can make progress and learn it! wink smile

Please remember that we are a friendly and loving community here for each other and willing to help each other, and that of course includes You! wink

I would encourage you to get started by listening to our qualified Spanish teacher : Paralee Whitmire through these series of short video clips beginning with Spanish 1 for beginners

Here is the link Please click on this link with your mouse to find the lessons and get started!:

I hope that helps grin

I'm guessing that you are trying to say "I'm 58 years old, too old to learn?" and I would answer to you, "nonsense!". I am 59, tengo cinquenta y nueve años y soy principiante aquí en SpanishDict.

I find this unbelievable Ray. Your picture makes you look around 50, but your attitude....I'd say around 25!!! - Nicole-B, Jun 30, 2011
Ray, you've got to be kidding! From all indications, I thought you're only 76!!! jejeje - Rikko, Jun 30, 2011
Thank you Feliz , I hope that was not a Freudian slip ! - ray76, Jun 30, 2011
Rikko all that glitters is not gold ! But in a few short months you may add two more years to your estimate . - ray76, Jun 30, 2011
Nicole you are too kind , it is all you young and beautiful girls that keep me young and my attitude challenged . Abrazos y besoses a todos . - ray76, Jun 30, 2011

Loved the question! I am hoping you are saying, "I have been learning for 58 years and I am never going to stop learning. " raspberry

At over 55 and trying to learn Spanish again I think it will take perseverence. And a little Spansh has to be better than none at all. But we can still learn.

A secret I picked up while volunteering in a class for students of a second language at our local college. Don't be afraid to make mistakes! Enjoy the process and keep laughing, making comments and enjoying.
