Recognised on-line certificate course in Spanish

I have been studying Spanish now for well over a year through Spanishdict and Rosetta Stone and although I have learnt a lot I really do not have anything to show for it which would complement my resume. I would like to know if there are any accredited exams that one could take on-line from a recognised university at perhaps an intermediate level.

Grateful as usual for any recommendations.

One suggestion: If you are applying for a position that requires Spanish, I would hope there is at least one person there who speaks the language. I would send my entire resume in Spanish. The function of a resume is to get you an interview.

Hi Croberts

A lot of government and educational institutions in the U.S. use this test, the ACTFL Proficiency Assessment. The oral proficiency can be done over the phone, but I think all tests require a proctor to be present so probably cannot be done on-line.

The Open University in the UK offers some online courses but I think you have to show up for a short period sometime during the course if it's a degree course. Another place to check out is Cardiff University. I did the High Level Translation course there online and it was very good.

While it may not be an official certificate, ODesk (more on ODesk can be read here) offers online Spanish proficiency tests for use with their online contractor sourcing program.
