No, only to lend. Not to borrow. To borrow is "pedir/tomar prestado." - gintar77, Jun 27, 2011
correct. "ask in lend"? :) - chileno, Jun 28, 2011

smile transitive verb 1. to lend, to loan (dejar) (dinero, cosa) ¿me prestas mil pesos? -> ¿could you lend me a thousand pesos? ¿me prestas tu pluma? -> can I borrow your pen? 2. to give, to offer (dar) (ayuda) ; to offer, to provide (servicio) ; to pay (atención) 3. to make (declaración, juramento) prestarse pronomial verb 1. (ser apto) prestarse (para) -> to be suitable (for), to lend itself (to) el lugar se presta para descansar -> this is a good place to rest also: prestarse a -> to offer to (ofrecerse a) se prestó a ayudarme enseguida -> she immediately offered to help me also: prestarse a -> to consent to (acceder a) no sé cómo se ha prestado a participar en esa película -> I don't know how he consented to take part in that film also: prestarse a -> to be open to (dar motivo a) sus palabras se prestan a muchas interpretaciones -> her words are open to various interpretations.

You see? "Prestar" has many uses in Spanish (and much more).

¡Presta atención!

(Lend me your ears [Shakespeare]) grin Just kidding, I have no idea if those concepts are related in Spanish.
