recordar vs acuerda?

Which word is correct for informal use for the word remember. Acuerda is only used in sentence direct translation?

Fyi, it's not actually "acuerda" but rather, "acordarse", which means to remember or to remind.

I'm pretty sure they are both the same and can be used interchangeably, though I've noticed most native speakers opt for "acordarse."

If you use the word "acordarse" you need "de":

No me acuerdo de la dirección.

But if you use "recordar", you don't need "de":

No recuerdo la dirección.

They seem interchangeable to me.

But acordarse is a reflexive verb and recordar usually is not. Both are stem changing o-->ue

So

¿Te acuerdas lo que te dije? Do you remember what I told you?

¿Recuerdas lo que te dije? Do you remember what I told you?

Mean the same thing.

And the "lo" in Goyo's sentences is not a Direct Object.

"Lo que" is a neuter relative pronoun that can mean "that which", "what", or "whatever".

Lo que dices es interesante. What you are saying is interesting.

¿Tienes lo que necesito? Do you have what I need?
