I know that both mean fire but what is the difference ?

Fuego is a small controlled fire as well as the heat and light produced by burning. Incendio is a large uncontrolled fire, like a house or forest burning down.

Creo que un fuego es en la chimenea y da calor , pero el incendio destrui todo y puede devastar la casa.

As kati says fuego is more general and incendio carries an implication of devastation, arson perhaps, something dangerous.
