"Hola! Buenos diaz y 'Pura Vida'!" Salutations in different countries.
I was just in Costa Rica and their salutations were always
"Hola! Buenos diaz y 'Pura Vida'!"
and I was wondering what do other countries have for little mottos like this or slang specific to their country. I'm very new to this site and to Spanish in general as I took French as my second language in school and am trying to become trilingual!
Please post one salutation formula in your country in each post![]()

In Mexico, it's common to say,
Hola, ¿que pasó? to an acquaintance,
or
¿Que tal, cuate? to a friend.
In Spain there are a lot of salutations possible, this can become a nice thread, I have changed the title:
¿Qué te cuentas? What's up?
In Greece we say "geia" meaning hello. It's pronounced just like the spanish word "ya".
"Geia" comes from the greek word "ygeia" meaning health. So, when we meet someone we wish him to be healthy.
Usually, "geia" is followed by personal pronouns like "geia sou" or "geia sas", meaning hello to you (informal), and hello to you (formal or plural).
In Belfast, where I was born and raised it is: 'bout ye? (How about you?) I miss that!
"Hola! Buenos diaz y 'Pura Vida'!"
In Mexico, it´s "Buenos días," "Buenas," "¿Qué onda?" "¿Qué húbole?"
¿Qué hubo? ¿Qué hay de nuevo? ¿Ajá y qué? ¿Y entonces? (Colombia)
haha, well, since the title is "salutations in different countries," and doesn't specify Spanish...
In Mongolia, we say ???? ????? ??? (sain baina uu?)
it means, "Are you good?"
Hola.
Buenos días.
Buen día.
