For the sake of English learners, I feel that I should point out that the English phrase should be "it's nice to see you" rather than "its nice to see you." Many people (including native speakers) find "it's" v "its" confusing. The rule is that you use the apostrophe (it's) if you mean "it is." If you mean it in a possessive sense (the cat couldn't reach its bowl), then no apostrophe is used.

Here is my attempt to explain in Spanish - please be forgiving! smile :

Por los quienes estan aprendiendo ingles, quiero explicar que el frase en ingles debe leer "it's nice to see you" en lugar de "its nice to see you." Mucha gente (incluso hablantes nativos de ingles), estan confundidos por "it's" y "its." La regla es que se usa "it's" cuando quiere decir "it is." Si quieres usarlo de manera posesivo (the cat couldn't reach its bowl), no necesita apostrofo.

inglés (not capitalized) it's is a contraction. its shows possession. - 0074b507, Jun 20, 2011

I didn't think ingles should be capitalized either, but the translator said it should be so I changed it! Oh well! And I apologize for the missing accents - I'll work on that in the future. :) - kamlt, Jun 20, 2011
