How do I put in an accent?
I've made a couple of flashcard sets already, but they're not really accurate, because I can't figure out how to put accents on any of the letters! There are no special buttons for letters with accent marks like it is on the lessons or on the questions/answers, AND shortcuts like you would use in Microsoft Word etc. don't work. How do I make my flashcards more accurate???

Check out Vikingo's Tiny Program here. The accepted answer has a link to the program. You download a small file and then all you have to do is use the Windows key and a letter to type the accented letter.
Example: ñ = Windows key + n
Now, it is almost as easy as using the Shift key to capitalize a letter. All you need to do is train your fingers to use the Windows key.
With or without a Spanish keyboard, you still need to add Spanish as a language in control panel, local languages. When you have selected SP, the tilde will be the [ key.
I just found a great website which explains how to do it - step by step - with different versions of Windows. I have loads more accents and tildes on my keyboard now. "Éxçélléñt" !! jejeje.
While holding down Alt push + then #'s
Á = Alt + 0193 É = Alt + 0201 Í = Alt + 0205 Ó = Alt + 0211 Ú = Alt + 0218 Ñ = Alt + 0209 Ü = Alt + 0220 ¡ = Alt + 0161 á = Alt + 0225 é = Alt + 0233 í = Alt + 0237 ó = Alt + 0243 ú = Alt + 0250 ñ = Alt + 0241 ü = Alt + 0252 ¿ = Alt + 0191
These work with Windows I do not know about any other you can try.
On my laptop I can just hold down Alt Gr (alternative grammar) then the vowel and put an accent on it. It doesn't work for the tilde on the ñ, though, I do Alt Gr and hold down 164 for that. And the ü from verguenza is tricky too.
For Windows users, here is the tell-all article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306560
Reference- How to type Spanish letters
The site here has the above article in the reference section. However rather than switching to a Spanish keyboard, I have switched to (I think- I am at work so can't check) the US international keyboard, which only messes up the functioning of the quotation key (and its new way of working is easy enough to get used to) and allows you to use that key to put in most of the accents. The ñ is either alt plus n or ; depending (I am not sure why my two computers are different). Or you can do it the way I do at work (where I can't change the keyboards), have an open word document with all the characters and cut and paste (slow but if you are desperate it works).
