I'm sorry means = Lo siento.

But it depends on what you want to say to your friend.

"I'm sorry" (English) = "Lo siento" or "Lo lamento" (in Spanish)

"I'm very sorry" (English) = "Lo siento mucho" or "Lo lamento mucho" (in Spanish)

You can also use "¡Perdóname!" or "¡Discúlpame!" ("Forgive me")
