Ampliar

to extend, to expand, to increase, to broaden, to widen, to enlarge

Post your sentences in Spanish and English, then vote for the ones you like. The best answer will be chosen tomorrow on the basis of the greatest number of votes and language correctness.

These threads are kindly moderated by Mariana. Please correct your posts according to Mariana’s indications and suggestions smile.

Posts which will not be corrected or accepted:
- Captions with 3 words or less
- Paragraphs with more than 4 lines
- Blatant machine translations and posts which cannot be understood after three or four readings.
- Posts which consist mainly of lyrics or idioms which do not translate.
- Captions copied directly from books or other sources.
- Multiple posts from one person, or those who don't write the sentences in both English and Spanish.
----------
Remember to correct your posts as suggested or they can NOT be "accepted".
Do not use subject pronouns in Spanish. (You'll be sent to the dunce corner!)

My Example:

Esta familia no tenía espacio en su camión. En vez de comprar un camión nuevo, decidió ampliar el camión que tiene.

This family did not have space in their truck. Instead of buying a new truck, they decided to expand the truck that they have.

These flags relate to the Confederate States of America? :) - Fidalgo, Jun 12, 2011
Hi Fidalgo....yep, these flags are the Confederate Flags...in the South, these are still very common, and in fact, some states (South Carolina) still flies the flag at the courthouse.... - 001a2987, Jun 12, 2011
Jajaja Heidi....it is comfortable here in the corner...lol...ok, I changed sus -> su (and in the process, I now understand why...), and I changed nueva -> nuevo (explanation: I originally had camioneta, then realized that it wasn't correct, so I tried... - 001a2987, Jun 12, 2011
to change the genders, but missed one...) The verbs are more difficult...I changed tenían -> tenía, because one family, so the verb should be singular....and the same with tienen -> tiene...same reason... - 001a2987, Jun 12, 2011
Thanks for posting again, Chris! - Ingeteacher, Jun 12, 2011

Thanks Feliz - I wasn't sure - Heidi said that I had two verb mistakes, so I fixed my two tener's....but decidir makes three....but I am sure that you are probably right... :) - 001a2987, Jun 12, 2011
Chris she could have been couting the correction of tener as 1 mistake since it is the same verb although it is used twice :) - FELIZ77, Jun 12, 2011
lol - I didn't think of that!! :) - 001a2987, Jun 13, 2011

We can´t use small rubber bands on the Sunday newspaper because they will not expand around the newspaper and advertisement.
