How would I make this a question?

I just learned how to use "hace" to express how long something has gone on. For example " Hace dos años que estudio español." But how would I ask how long someone has been studying? Would it be "¿Desde cuándo estudias español?" Shouldn't there be an "hace" somewhere in the question because there is an "hace" in the answer? Thank you :D

Oops didn't read the question right, just realised that the answer for that is "llevo x años/meses etc" and you wanted it to be "Hace dos años que estudio español". - fi123, Jun 11, 2011

I like your sentence, Aga.
You could also ask this way, I believe:
¿Hace cuánto tiempo que estudias español?
o bien
¿Cuánto tiempo hace que estudias español?
maybe:
¿Cuánto tiempo llevas estudiando español? I hope that works, because for some reason I like using 'llevar' in that way. ;P
