La diferencia entre "te quiero" y "te amo" en España

Hola a todos! Tengo problema entender como usar las expreciónes "Te quiero" y "Te amo" en España. Cuando alguién me dice - Te quiero. Entonces me pongo muy nerviosa. Porque yo no sé qué significa. ¿Me quiere como una amiga, me quiere como enamorado o me quiere como hacer amor???? En inglés y en sueco también tenemos diferentes palabras para estos diferentes situaciones. ¿Cómo puedo entender la diferencia? La expreción "Te amo" es más facil, creo ja ja ja. Creo, cuando una persona dice te amo, es muy serio. Es el amor verdadero, correcto????

Te amo no se dice en España casi nunca, se considera "cursi"

Te quiero puede significar todo lo descrito por ti, el contexto te lo aclará.

Lo que está claro es que si un hombre me dice que me quiere, yo sabré si soy su amor o si soy una amiga

My experience is that "te amo" is used in Spain too Pescador, but not as frequent as "te quiero". But I avoid "te quiero" to not make a situation uncomfortable for any of us, because of the problem with misinterpretation

We don't Not in my region, if somebody said "te amo" to me, I would think he is not from Spain, sounds very kitch over here, I would say this is only, or at least mostly, used in other Hispanic countries.
