¿Cual si en vez de como si?

I was listening to a Shakira song and I heard the line "Me besaste esa noche cual si fuera el único día de tu boca." I was wondering if in hypothetical situations like this can "cual si" replace "como si." I have never seen a rule for this, but I think I have seen it before too.

Yes, cual is, among other things, an adverbio relativo, which works just like como.
