How do I write the question "What do zebras eat?"?
How do I write the question "What do zebras eat?". I was helping my 5 year old with his Spanish class recently and I was confused about writing the question, "What do zebras eat?". I came up with "Que comen las cebras?". But literally translated wouldn't that mean, "What eats the zebras?", which is a totally different meaning.
School is now over, but this is still bothering me. Thanks!!

"¿Qué comen las cebras?" is correct.
What eats the zebras? would be ¿Qué se come a las cebras?
Your sentence is correct in Spanish. I have have learned the hard way that you really cant be literal in translation, because it is all in the context.
As in English things can always be said in different ways.
An alternative to your phrase could be ¿Qué es lo que las cebras comen? " what is what zebras eat ?" note the literal in english.
¿Qué comen las cebras?. Is correct! ![]()
