"Quepar" and "Caber"

I humbly approach the pantheon of experts with an etymological question. Caber and quepar both means "to fit" but is Caber simply a more recent pronunciation? The dictionary will state if one is in use more in Latin America or in Spain but "quepar" isn't even in the dictionary. Thanks in advance for enlightening my sorry butt.

HI gary, the conjugation of caber becomes quepa, quepas...etc in subjunctive, but the verb quepar does not existwink
