Sentence from Spanish story
I have just finished another Spanish story which includes this line:
"Llegó una ocasión en que se encontraron solos, pues los adelante habían caminado más aprisa que los de atrás."
I read this as: There came a point in which they proceeded singly, such that the front-most were going much faster than those behind.

"Llegó una ocasión en que se encontraron solos, pues los adelante habían caminado más aprisa que los de atrás."
There came a time when they found themselves alone, as the ones in front had walked faster than the ones in back.
Encontrarse can mean several different things, including to be (in a place or situation), or to find oneself.
