Feliz Cumple, Que (lo/la) pases bien... ?

I always see both "la" and "lo" used. Are they both correct, or is only one grammatically correct?
I read a post that this could be a regional difference.

"Feliz cumple" is just an abreviation of "Feliz cumpleaños" and the article for both is "el" so the pronoun should be "lo."
When you see "la" it is probably referring to "la celebración / fiesta / pachanga de cumpleaños."
