Could you tell me, please, if the translation is correct? Thanks

The text is an answer to a quesiton about the most amazing thing I've done.

The English text

"The first time when I got on a train alone, went to the other side of my country, spend two weeks trekking in mountains and went back home safe. I was very proud of myself. And it's how the whole traveling thing kicked off."

And that's the transtation:

"La primera vez cuando me subí a un tren solo, se fue al otro lado de mi país, pasar dos semanas de trekking en las monta?as y volví a casa a salvo. Yo estaba muy orgulloso de mí mismo. Y eso es como el viajar se inició."

"La primera vez cuando me subí a un tren solo, fui al otro lado de mi país, a pasar ( or pasé) dos semanas de trekking en las monta?as y volví a casa a salvo. Yo estaba muy orgulloso de mí mismo. Y eso es como el viajar se inició."

I think this sounds better:

La primera vez que me subí a un tren solo, fui al otro lado de mi país, pasé dos semanas haciendo trekking en las montañas y volví a casa a salvo. Estaba muy orgulloso de mi mismo. Y así fue como el viajar se inició.
