This site is just awesome. I've run across several paysites for learning Spanish out there that aren't half as good as this one. The video lessons break everything down, the flashcard system is great, the forums are awesome, and the video dictionary is pretty cool too. So, yep, everything!

A question never gets old.

It is a guarantee that within the week someone is going to ask "why is it el agua?"

I suppose it would be appropriate to use this as a chance to say a bit about how I use SD, what I find useful and not useful.

I never use the flashcards, perhaps I would if I were still in formal classes and had tests, but those never seem to do anything long term for me.

I haven't done any lessons past course three, I suppose I should. But after course three I feel there is little left to learn that shouldn't merely come from experiencing the language, of course this is merely how I feel, and there is always the entertainment value that comes from these lessons. I think the original plan was to stop after course three, but Paralee changed her mind. The addition is welcome, but I can see why the plan might have been to stop at course three.

Something I wish people would do more often is take a look at the reference section. Any answer to a grammatical question etc. can almost always be found there, though that isn't necessarily true of obscure things, as I noticed recently, it is the best place to start, especially if you are a beginner, rarely does a beginner ask a question not related to slang that the reference articles or the dictionary can't handle. Still, I am hoping that someday they will implement a better search system for user made reference articles. Currently there is no way to do a search for user made articles without also searching every question and every answer that has to do with the subject you are researching. Making a user made reference article, unless you personally keep track of it or it goes into the "reference section," is essentially useless because it disappears into the ether after a while. Currently there are only 9 pages worth of reference articles, and a good deal of them are Paralee's original articles that are listed in the reference section, so it isn't that large of a deal. However, it is tedious to go through page after page reading each title in the hopes that the title will tell me for certain if what I'm actually looking for is in the article.

SpanishDict is great, though in this one aspect I could see room for improvement.

I love the video lessons and vocabulary drills, because they are well presented.

I love the forum because of all the great people you meet and the fun we have in playing educational games and learning new things.

I love the reward systems of points, reputation, and badges because they encourage further study and help make it even more fun.

I love everything about SpanishD!!

Heidita

And she is going to give me grief for this.

I would be surprised if she doesn't delete this but it's true.

The best part of SpanishDict is the the lessons. The teaching videos explain everything well and the flashcards are a great help at learning and remembering the vocabulary. It's also great that you can make your own flashcards. That way, you're not just following someone else's preprogramed lessons, but you can create learning helps for the words and phrases that you need (or just want) to learn as well!

A me gusta mucho SpanishDict!

I never really used the forums while I was doing the lessons. When I finished them recently, I found that I kept coming back to the site (not sure why). Finally I found the forum and chat and now I'm hooked. I do think it's difficult to see that there is a forum, because it's titled "Answers" and it takes a bit of clicking around (and a bit of attention to the page) to see that there are categories - where you can find threads for discussions.
