Amanecer and Mardrugada interchangeable?
Is "amanecer" more like dawn and "mardrugada" more like the phrases in english, 'before dawn when the light is there but the sun has yet to rise?;" or the 'blue hour' that is the color of light before the sun?. Thanks in advance!

Yes, amanecer is like daybreak,or dawn, while madrugada is very early in the morning. It does not have to be before sun up, because if I get up at 9:00 am, to me madrugar is 6, 7, or 8:00 o'clock.
I have always thought of "amenecer" as sunrise, and "la madrugada" as the small hours between midnight and dawn.
I could be in error however, and would await a native speaker to confirm it.
