"y" changes to "e" for "and" before a word that starts with an "i" sound.

  • mi hermano y hermana
  • mi hijo e hija

"o" changes to "u" for "or" before a word that starts with an "o" sound.

  • ocho o nueve minutos
  • diez u once dólares
  • siete u ocho pesos
