Exact Translation of "Acabamiento"

Exact Translation of "Acabamiento"

According to the dictionary here, it means 'End, completion, death, consummation. ', but my teacher told me "antes de su acabamiento" meant something more like "before he was exhausted/lost all his energy".

entry for 'acabamiento'

Is acabamiento safe to use for 'death'? What are some of its other meanings? Can it signify the end of other things besides life? The dictionary is helpful, but I'm looking for a bit more precise clarification.

Acabamiento for finishing (as in metal finishing) is not used, but "acabado" is. grin

EDIT: (after reading it again) smile

In the case of "antes de su acabamiento" it means:

before its exhaustion

before being exhausted

I am sorry for not reading it well the first time around... smile

R.A.E- gives several meanings , death is among them. seems the most used is finishing or terminating of something,

I cannot say as I have ever heard it used.

This rendering is more specific but fits:

Example: The finishing of these metal beds gives them a look that shines. =>

El acabamiento de estas camas de metal les da una mirada que brille.

So a finished surface or final treatment/application to same... oh oh

It means something like finishing, so it can apply to many things other than the literal death of a person.
