A 'Vosotros' issue

Hi there,

When talking to friends in Spain, I can say e.g. 'Vosotros habláis', and 'Ustedes habalan' is the formal form, right?

So what to use with 'vosotros' outside Spain, should I use the Usted form when talking to friends?

Thanks

Yes, outside of Spain, ustedes is used for all occasions.

Outside of Spain the question of what to use with "vosotros" doesn't arise for the natives because they don't use "vosotros". They use "ustedes", instead. In speaking to them, you can, yourself, use "vosotros" if you wish (and you will be understood). In which case you would use the verb form appropriate to "vosotros" (just as in Spain).

Hola, SpanishPal,

I would say you are better off using the Ud. form in Mexico, Central or South America.
