Correct form of "sweet" in this instance...?

Question

I cant really decide which word would be appropriate to say to a guy I like... we aren't dating; but he says very flirtatious and extremely sweet things to me... what noun form of "sweet" or "sweetie" would be appropriate without being overly-romantic? In a playful way... Thanks

No idea re. Mexicañol, it seems to me that 'they' tend to be more free and forward in their use of sweet phrases than we are, in English. People who hardly know each other send one another 'un beso' and 'un abrazo' as email sign-offs, amongst other things - afowen, Jun 2, 2011

Just call him something neutral like guapo (if he is). That doesn't connote any romantic passion with it. These kind of things lend themselves to misunderstandings, however. At some point, I would clarify my feelings. I just wouldn't assume that he understands your intentions. Usually if someone flirts with you and you respond in turn, it is seen as an expression of interest, not just setting a level of familiarity in a friendship.
