If I was were to use the phrase mé pequeño pastelito as a term of endearment, would it be pequeño for a boy and pequeña for a girl?

I have corrected your punctuation. Welcome to the forum Paul. - Destroyed99, Jun 2, 2011

No

In this case mi pequeño pastelito is for both, as pequeño refers to the pastel...

EDIT: pastelita does not exist. Hence it cannot be used with pequeña

Are you sure? I mean what if we call a girl a "sweetcake"? - GuitarWarrior, Jun 1, 2011
As I understand it, that is irrelevant. Pequeño is describing pastel, which is a masculine noun. The person that we are calling a sweetcake has got nothing to do with it. - NickDan, Jun 1, 2011
I see... thanks everyone! :) - GuitarWarrior, Jun 1, 2011

We use "mi" instead of "mé", and "pequeño" doesn't have much use BEFORE the noun because that would be figurative, and the diminutive "ito" already takes care of that. So we make "ito" mean "sweet" and "pequeño" literally mean "small".

Mi pastelito pequeño = My little sweetcake

That's sooo cute smile

Surely it can only be "pequeño", as pastel is masculine...? What am I missing? - NickDan, Jun 1, 2011
