Space Shuttle Sonic Booms
This is a very unimpressive video of the double sonic booms that the Space Shuttle makes when it comes out of super-sonic speed. I'm going to try to imbed the video here from Facebook. Turn your volume up!
The Shuttle flew directly over Central Florida and these are so loud that it shakes the house, babies cry, car alarms go off, and a lot of people are woken up and startled. I was, too, even though I was expecting it.

Concorde used to break the sound barrier over Ireland even though they weren't allowed to, we could hear it all the time in going to school in Cork, it was really annoying. I'm glad they decommissioned the darn thing.
Of course this could be one of those things that only happened 3 or 4 times but I remember happening regularly, since I was just a little kid.
I guess this is different from a sonic boom, but I felt left out so I thought I'd share. 
I was priviledged to hear the very first sonic boom made by any shuttle.
I went out to Edwards Air Force Base (California) with some friends from college August 12, 1977 and saw the first drop-test free flight landing of a space shuttle (the Enterprise). It took an hour for the specially modified Boeing 747 with a shuttle strapped on top to reach altitude and drop the shuttle. During descent, it exceeded the speed of sound, and upon approach and deceleration, produced that double sonic boom.
The Enterprise is now retired, on display at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Maryland, USA.
Of course, last night, these happened at 2:31am, when most are sleeping.
