Can someone give me a few sample sentences using Equivocar and it's conjugations(present pro and preterit ). NOT EQUIVOCARSE. I'm having a hard time drawing a line between the two.

Equivocar = to mistake, to get wrong
Equivoqué ese hombre por alguien famoso. I mistook that man for someone famous.
No equivoques la casualidad con la suerte. Don't mistake coincidence with luck/fate.
Equivocarse = to be mistaken, to be wrong
Perdón, me equivoqué. Pensé que era alguien que conocía. Sorry, I am mistaken. I thought you were someone I knew.
Te equivocas si piensas que te voy a perdonar. You are wrong if you think I am going to forgive you.
