Is this correct? "Vamos a empezar con las vas ventajas"

I am not sure about this because i do not know why "empezar" still has the -ar ending,

and also is the "vas" needed?

This sounds like a speech in which you will speak of the advantages and diadvantages and will begin with the former. If this is the case, this is the correct form. And yes, vamos is necesarry, you wouln't say begin with, so let's begin is right.

Empezar has this form because it means to begin. You wouldn't say "begin" without using let's, right? Although you could say Empecemos con las...so the mos makes it let's.

you mean the empecemos? The difference is that your first sentence is "we are going to begin..." and the second is "let's begin." - Rey55, May 31, 2011

2. Empecemos con las ventajas = Let's start with the advantages.

If you don't want to use "vamos," then the second sentence is an option.
