It will help you to review this article on SpanishDict:

Verbs and Pronouns: Transitive? Reflexive? Pronominal?

Verbs are not reflexive or irreflexive; Some are transitive, some are intransitive, and some can be either. For transitive verbs, which take an object, they can take an object pronoun and used as pronomial. When the object pronoun refers to the same thing as the subject, it is said to be used reflexively.

I hope this article will help.

Hi Sid,

Basically, you have to know the verb. Just like you know that "was" "am" and "is" are all part of the same verb in English. A dictionary will help.

But remember, little Spanish kids don't start out by learning about reflexive verbs. They learn, acostarse from bedtime and cepillarse from brushing their teeth every morning.

Find a way to practice. I recommend Learning Spanish Like Crazy or Pimsleur.
