No te has enterado****de qué va el papel.
You have no idea what the role is about.

I do not get this translation at all! Could someone please explain?

Gracias

No te has enterado de qué va el papel.

It made no sense to me at first either.

First, I didn't know enterar/se means "to find out".

Second, even though I knew "el papel" can be used figuratively for a role or a script in a play- my mind doesn't naturally go there, yet.

But having those pieces, it pretty much makes sense if "de qué" is being used to mean "how".

"You have not found out how the role goes" would be a literal translation.

Gracias Goyo...I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this was a tough sentence. - foxluv, May 29, 2011

This is the same as saying "No te has enterado de qué se trata el papel."

It´s being said to an actor: "You haven´t figured out the character in a particular role."

Gracias, I think you said "I haven't found out{any idea} what the role is going to be about"? Is that why "va"? - foxluv, May 29, 2011
Sorry, I´ll fix that - 005faa61, May 29, 2011
