Can "Dios" refer to any god?

Does "Dios" only refer to the Catholic or Christian God? Or can it be uncapitalized and just mean any deity in general?

For example, if one wanted to say "Each religion has a god." or "I don't believe in a god.", would one say "un dios"?

Gracias =)

Yes, exactly. Capitalize it for our Christian God (like in English). For deities in all other religions which have multiple gods, don't capitalize, eg., Hindu deities - los dioses Hindues.

Hmmm. What about a triune God? - 0074b507, May 28, 2011
Q The God of Abraham Isaac and Jacb is the triune God but he is still One God :) as it says in the Scriptures "'Hear oh Isreal the Lord your God is one you shall Love the Lórd with all your heart etc..''.. - FELIZ77, May 28, 2011
I understand that the term "god" should be capitalized when it refers to the deity of monotheistic religion ... as some of these have prohibitions on using the proper name of their deity and others feel that all such references should be capitalized. - Lector_Constante, May 28, 2011
