But it's also innocent if you say "Tengo dos perras", if they are both female dogs.

Tengo dos gatas. wink

The b-word is also innocently used among dog breeders and vets and such...I can't bring myself to use it though...not even in the innocent use. - webdunce, May 27, 2011
of course, I said in case you say this to a woman or a man... - Peinadin, May 27, 2011
That's funny, but you're right. Saying it in Spanish isn't as hard for me as it is in English. I'd never refer to a female dog as a B****, either. But then again, we don't have separate words for male/female dogs/cats when talking about them as pets. - Tosh, May 27, 2011
We don't have separate words in English, I meant... ran out of space.... - Tosh, May 27, 2011
Peinadin... I knew what you meant. I was just adding some info. :) - Tosh, May 27, 2011
don´t worry, I´m sorry, sometimes I don´t understand very well what english people say ;) - Peinadin, May 27, 2011
No te preocupes, tampoco. ;) - Tosh, May 27, 2011
Most people in the 'show dog world' have no problem using that term. I believe the word was used to refer to a female dog way before it was derogatory - Gillygaloo, May 27, 2011

Also you can use it disrespectfully, as in bit**, or slut... take care with this word when you say it to a woman or a man. If you say this to a man, the meaning is lazy or slob. Regards from Madrid.

In some places, and historically speaking, the term is/was also used to refer to certain value of coins.

Máquina tragaperras, for example, is a slot machine.
