You should know
How do you say you should know.
I want it for my word of the day sentence.
Thanks.

Deber means to "owe"... but when you conjugate it and then put an infinitive, it means "you should" or "you must".
Debes comer - you should eat
Debo dormir - I should sleep.
Take it from there. ![]()
Well Maria, don't you think you should do the research first? I mean, "Word of the day" is an exercise.
In these situations I would used the conditional tense. "Debes saber" - "You must know". "Deberías saber" - "You should know".
Deber (conjugated) + infinitive = you should (something).
I had the rest, but then saw Yeser007's post. ![]()
Good question, Maria. Just fill out this form in triplicate in order to justify your need to know this information so we can determine your eligibility for the answer. ![]()
Great guidance and direction! That's what this site is about! Good on you-all. Fun, learning, and oh yeah......learning! ![]()
In many cases, it would be "Deberías saber" (tú form...conditional...but there are shades of meaning to our should that might get translated differently...but I am not qualified to give solid advice on that).
And, it is even more likely to be "deberías saberlo"... :D
"You should know" has more than one meaning in English. . .
