A mi lado can be figurative right?

No hay nadie a mi lado (figurative), no one is on my side, or is it only literal like, no one is physically to the side of me, I think both.

Edit: No me importaría si estuverias a mi lado. (figurative or physically either can be inferred)

Gracias

Luck is not on my side. La suerte no está de mi lado

I found this on WR Jeezzle, but it doesn't get many Google hits.

However I also found de mi parte which gets more hits.

A mi lado seems from context to refer to the physical position of somebody.

More answers needed I think!

I know I wish I could get a printout of all my threads, but sometimes when I research them, I see that I have already asked them, still maybe this time I can remember it. - jeezzle, May 28, 2011
