Need to know which is the correct way in spanish

My son is going to be the chaperone of some graduating seniors to mexico and we want to put The Chaperone" in spanish on the back of his shirt but we are not sure if "La Chaperona is feminin and we should use El acompañante? instead. Can someone help?

Acompañante is the word in Spanish without anglicism, although in Mexico, they adopt a lot of English words from their northern neighbors.

For México I would suggest " Chaperón" for a male.
