What does it mean if you vote for someone's answer but it doesn't register a point?

I've been wondering about this for a while. - jtt96, May 24, 2011

You will receive a point for each vote you give up to 10 in 24 hours, But look at it this way it is only 1 point gained, or given away, a good question or answer deserves the vote with or without the point.

I agree. But I didn't think I'd ever voted 10 times in 24 hours. Thanks for the response, Paco. - babs_irish, May 24, 2011
Makes sense. Where did you find this out? - jtt96, May 24, 2011
I asked the question just as you did ! - pacofinkler, May 24, 2011

I'm new to this site, but I may see the problem. Not sure if you read this before, but you can only earn up to 200 reputation per day. Are you sure you haven't reached that limit?

receiving rep point for you questions or answere is separate from the votes you give others - pacofinkler, May 24, 2011
Ahh... Thanks for clarifying that. I thought it was 200 rep points per day for everything you do. - Lithefrost, May 24, 2011
Although I've been on the site for over a year, I've only recently started participating in the forum. In answer to your earlier comment, as a senior citizen, I don't draw my sense of self from points here. But I do like to understand how it all works. :) - babs_irish, May 24, 2011
