"quitar(le)/sacar(le) las cenizas a tu..." or "quitar/limpiar las cenizas de tu..." ( with the preposition "de" you can't add the "le" pronoun, because "de tu trozo de tarta" it's not an object) Well done, Jen! and happy birthday, sweetie :) - cogumela, May 23, 2011
