I would like to know what other verbs in Spanish there are like querer, poder, empezar, etc. Querer is a stem-changing verb because you can say quiero and poder is also one because you can say empiezo. So what other verbs are there that stem-change?

There are many and it depends what tense you are in. In the preterite (past tense) there are words like andar that go to anduv so instead of ando (I walked) it would be anduve (I walked). In the present SER is irregular it is conjugated yo-soy tú-eres el/ella/ud.-es nosotros-somos vosotros-sois ellos/ellas/uds.-son There are -go verbs where the firstperson singular is conjugated with a -go instead of an -o like tengo or vengo

Incase you just need a list then here you go (all present tense): caer conocer conducir dar decir estar hacer haber escogaer incluir ir oír pner saber salir seguir ser tener traducir traer valer venir ver nacer fiar ovedecer obtener ofrecer parecer reír sonreír

With the same change as "querer" in "quiero", about 268 verbs.

With the same change as "poder" in "puedo", about 164 verbs.

And the speed of light is "about" 299,792,458 m/s. - lorenzo9, May 22, 2011
I am aware of that figure. My stats come from the verbs acknowledged by the RAE. - lazarus1907, May 22, 2011
In other words, the RAE has 268 verbs that change like "querer", whether that list is comprehensive or not. I don't make up figures. I have spent too much time building up databases. - lazarus1907, May 22, 2011
That was my point. The speed of light I quoted is exact. - lorenzo9, May 23, 2011

Only certain spellings can be stem changing, but if you restrict attention to those, all of the -ir verbs are stem changing. There are lots of them.

All of the -ir verbs aren't stem-changing. Maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying? - babs_irish, May 22, 2011
There are only certain verbs that can be stem changing--perhaps you are not aware of the restrictions. All of them that end in -ir are stem changing. - lorenzo9, May 22, 2011
