Is this correct for "my parents go out for dinner"? I am trying to use this in the past tense, I think imperfect?

The conjugation for salir
salisties is not a Spanish word. The preterit and imperfect conjugations are
Preterit
• salí
• saliste
• salió
• salimos
• salisteis
• salieron
Imperfect
• salía
• salías
• salía
• salíamos
• salíais
• salían

Hi! I'm sorry, but your sentence has not sense, you have to use the 3 person of plural (preterit) "salieron", moreover, "por la cene" is not correct. The right sentence is "a cenar".
So the correct sentence is "mis padres salieron a cenar".
