Difference between hombrecillo and maniquí

Question

Maria says they aren't the same thing.

I think hombrecillo is like a bust of a man, like a statue, and maniquí is a mannequin. Is that what hombrecillo is/. Gracias.

I suppose some statues representing small android figures could be referred to as "hombrecillo", but only inasmuch as they represent a little man

So if it was a statue of Commander Data, hombrecillo, but Picard would be maniquí? Lol. Don't know what you mean by android there, but I thought it was funny.

I don't think you can use "hombrecillo" for statue. If it's a statue of the chest of a person, then it's a "busto". If you are with a Spanish speaker, and point in the general direction of a statue and say: "¡mira el hombrecillo!", the natural response... - Gekkosan, May 22, 2011
