Rules for attending meetings:
1) never attend a meeting you don't have to attend
2) never attend a meeting without an agenda
3) always sit beside the guy who asks the most questions; you can tell him to be quiet
4) when preparing the room for a meeting, remove all chairs; the meeting will be shorter

Psshh. Meetings are awesome. There's always donuts. Way better than actually working. We used to have meetings all the time when I was a sysadmin. We once had a meeting to discuss the best dry cleaners. The meeting was like an hour long. Mandatory. Donuts etc... Sandwiches too I think. I miss meetings now.
Meetings are a real drag, so I admit I simply refused to go, but if it were really serious, I would use Dakie's "The dog ate my pants" excuse too.
