If I want to say 'I have been to the beach' would I use 'ido' or 'estado'? I am confused about how to use these two words.

He ido a la playa. or He estado a la playa.

Gracias de antemano

so thats why i get confused! I've seen both used. Which would tend to be used most often by native speakers? - billygoat, May 21, 2011
We use "fui". Like "el domingo fui al cine". "estuve" like "el sabado estuve en la iglesia". - 00a4c226, May 21, 2011

It depends on how you want to say it.

He ido a la playa .... I have gone to the beach.

He estado en la playa ...... I have been at the beach.
