What is this idiomatic expression? "Echar todo a rodar." I

The idiomadic expression is "Echar todo a rodar." In my book it says "to make a fizzle". What does that mean? I go to a website and it says "echar todo a rodar" means "to mess things up". Is that right? Or does "echar todo a rodar" mean something else? I appreciate your help. Thanks!

Imagine that you drop hundreds of coins you had in a bag, and they start to roll all over the floor. You've just messed things up. Yes, it is idiomatic, and I do not know its origin.
