Is it okay to try?
I have just graduated college and my job has placed me in an area with a large Spanish speaking population. Many people also know English as well, but is it rude for me to attempt to speak Spanish to them anyway? I am not great at Spanish, but I feel it will help me to learn if I am put in that situation.

You could always acknowledge that they likely speak English very well but ask if they mind letting you practice your Spanish. ![]()
That way you won't inadvertently give offense - making them wonder if you're speaking Spanish because you doubt their knowledge of English.
Just a suggestion, but I'm sure it'll be fine ![]()
This is a great opportunity to improve your communication skills. Take your chance. Good luck!
