Is it okay to try?

I have just graduated college and my job has placed me in an area with a large Spanish speaking population. Many people also know English as well, but is it rude for me to attempt to speak Spanish to them anyway? I am not great at Spanish, but I feel it will help me to learn if I am put in that situation.

You could always acknowledge that they likely speak English very well but ask if they mind letting you practice your Spanish. smile

That way you won't inadvertently give offense - making them wonder if you're speaking Spanish because you doubt their knowledge of English.

Just a suggestion, but I'm sure it'll be fine smile
